WELCOME TO THE
CITY of SAN BENITO, TEXAS
San Benito is known as the birthplace of conjunto music, a genre that blends Mexican, American, and European musical styles. It's also the hometown of several notable figures, including musician Freddy Fender (born Baldemar Huerta) and conjunto accordionist Narciso Martínez. Also the hometown of musician Charley Crockett. Crockett was born there and later became known for his music, often referencing his South Texas roots.Additionally, the city boasts the Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Freddy Fender Museum.
